COCA IS NOT COCAINE
Group 4 project
Amazonas 2014
What relations and what differences are they between Amerindian and Western societie's?
For us, was a great pleasure to visit the Amazonas, because it wasn't just a trip, it was a unique experience that lead us to understand how does an Amerindian tribe can actually live, and how are their traditions and how is their daily life in contact with nature, spiritualism, beliefs and their constant management of education in order to be a better human being as time goes on.
First of all, the Amerindian people from a really long time ago, used to eat "Mambe" as a religious and spiritual way, in order to communicate with ancestors, "gods" and nature. This is still used and they are used for the same conditions. During our trip, we saw plenty of times how Checho, and other guides made this ritual, they had a praying before eating 2 or 3 spoons.
It's important to show, that MAMBE it's not a drug, it dont makes you hallucinate, and other things.
Now adays, the word "COCA" is known as COCAINE , and after the trip experience, we can show that is totally different, there are no chemicals in MAMBE (it's made from leafs of Coca and Yarumo), but the occidental mentalities are closed, and they hardly know or think that coca or mambe isthe same as COCAINE. but have many differences, for example:
MAMBE:
-
is a green powder.
-
it's chewed.
-
religion views.
-
speech use.
-
decision use.
-
ancestor use.
-
and many other facts.
COCAINE:
-
White powder.
-
Inhaled.
-
drug.
-
generates you energy for few minutes.
-
bad for your health.
