“ It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves - in finding themselves."
– Andre Gide
In our visit to the Amazon in April of 2014, we learnt different things that made significant contributions to our daily life. One of them, and the main topic for our Group 4 project, was the different negative connotations coca has due to cocaine and the effects that this has on the indigenous consumers of the coca.
Our main objective here is to create awareness! We want people to understand that coca is NOT cocaine, that the consumption of coca has a totally different meaning than the consumption of cocaine, that there are many different traditions, rites and beliefs behind the chewing the coca leaf and the mambe. WE NEED TO OPEN OUR MINDS!
